Mercury and attempts to make a traffic stop. His unit is disabled
from shotgun blasts. The driver of the Mercury was identified as Claude Eugene

near Waynesboro, Mississippi. The pickup was taken near Roff, Oklahoma

- The 1970 Mercury is recovered near Whitfield, Alabama

- Cuba, Alabama resident Stacy Beavers is found dead
by Sumter County, Alabama Sheriff Melvin Stephens,
her throat had been cut. Beaver's 1976 Mercury station wagon was taken, it
was later found in Bryan County, Oklahoma on May 24
